Jeanne C. Ashe

Jeanne C. Ashe, 93, of Kittanning, PA., passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital.

She was born June 17, 1921 in Kittanning to James and June (Patton) Ashe.

Jeanne graduated from Kittanning High School in 1939 and later earned a Bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh. For 20 years until her retirement in 1986, she worked as the manager of unemployment insurance at Rockwell International in Pittsburgh. Jeanne was a lifelong member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Kittanning and was active in church activities, formerly serving as a ruling elder and the church treasurer. She was known for her love of music and participated in many local organizations. She belonged to her church's senior choir for many years and also took part in the church's senior bell choir. For a number of years, Jeanne sang with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and was a lifetime member of the Mendelssohn Board of Directors. Her other interests included reading, photography and traveling.

She is survived by her brother, Dr. Charles P. Ashe and wife, Jeannie, of Lower Burrell; nephews, Larry Ashe, of Dallas, TX, Phillip Ashe, of Marietta, GA, and Stephen Ashe and wife, Angele, of Spanish Port, AL; and nieces, Karen Askren and husband, Carl, of Clovis, CA, Kristin Lifton, of Brackenridge, and Lisa Kapsak and husband, Andrew, of Glen Allen, VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James W. Ashe.

The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at 12 PM on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 155 Jefferson St., Kittanning, with the Rev. Dana Wilmot officiating.
