Hazel Louise Craig

Hazel Louise Craig, 96, of Rimersburg, PA, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

She was born November 25, 1919 in Lawsonham, Clarion Co., PA, the daughter of John W. and Flora Alice (Traister) Swartz.

Hazel was a lifetime resident of the area and the last surviving member of her family. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and was a gifted cook whose specialty was homemade noodles. Hazel's family also looked forward to her graham cracker cream pies at the Craig family reunions. She was a member of Lawsonham United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the United Methodist Women's group and the quilting club, and taught Sunday school for 15 years. Hazel loved flower gardening and birds, and was known for being a wonderful storyteller.

Her memory will be cherished by her sons, John Gaylord Craig and wife, Merleann, of Albuquerque, NM, and Randall Dwight Craig and wife, DeLee, of North Huntingdon, PA; daughters, Sondra Mawnee Huffman and husband, David, of Fairmount City, and Alnoma Sue Mohney and husband, Samuel, of Templeton; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Alexander "Bud" Craig, whom she married July 16, 1938 and who died June 17, 2009; grandson, Eric Craig; step-grandson, Carl Craig; brothers, Joseph and Walter Swartz; and sisters, Mary Swartz, Yvonne Swartz, Mabel Bearfield, Lula Crisman and Rolla Walter.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main St., Rimersburg.

Additional visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at 12 PM on Monday, April 25, 2016, at Lawsonham United Methodist Church, 3511 Lawsonham Rd., Rimersburg, with the Rev. Dennis A. Fetter officiating.

Burial will be in Lawsonham Cemetery, Rimersburg, PA.
