John B. Kness, 81, of Plumcreek Twp., Kittanning, PA, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Plumcreek Twp., PA on June 20, 1932, to Clyde V. and Belle (Sturgeon) Kness.

John was a 1950 graduate of Elderton High School. He was previously the secretary for the Whitesburg Presbyterian Cemetery for over 15 years and was employed as a meter reader for West Penn Power. He was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge #203. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and NASCAR, especially rooting for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhart, Jr. John was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with the many cats he had over the years. John will best be remembered for being a man of strong opinions and his willingness to help anyone.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 57 years, Helen (Peterman) Kness whom he married October 5, 1956; a son, Jeffrey J. Kness, Sr. and wife, Marie, of Kittanning; two grandchildren, Thomas J. Kness and fiancé, Melanie, of Ebensburg, PA, and Jeffrey J. Kness, Jr. of Kittanning; and a sister, June Britton of Miami, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Glenn G. Kness.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Clark Chapel Funeral Home, 238 South Main Street, Elderton, PA, where funeral services will follow at 8 PM.
