Betty Stitt Speicher

Betty Stitt Speicher, 88, of Akron, OH, formerly of Kittanning, PA and Fox Chapel, PA, died Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Hospice Care Center in Akron, OH.

Born on November 23, 1925, in Kittanning, she was the only child of Daniel R. and Dora E. (Bowser) Stitt. She graduated from Kittanning High School and in 1946, married John "Spike" Speicher. Betty was a member of the Kittanning First United Methodist Church, where she had once worked as the church secretary. She also worked various jobs, including working at the Armstrong County Courthouse in the Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts office, and at Harts Home Store. Throughout the years, she also volunteered for the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the American Red Cross and various church groups.

Preceded in death by her parents and husband, John A. "Spike" Speicher, in 1999, Betty is survived by her daughters, Doretta Louise Coon and husband, Donald, of Worthington, and B. Dancene Trudgen and husband, Daniel, of Richfield, OH; and grandchildren, Matthew Trudgen and wife, Emily, of Clermont, FL, and Logan Trudgen, of Cleveland, OH.

Friends will be received from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at 1 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 North McKean Street, Kittanning, PA, with the Rev. Terry Trudgen officiating.

Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Betty's honor to the Hospice Care Center by VNS of Akron, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333. This hospice provided loving care and dignity for Betty during her last days.
