Ernest M. "Ernie" Switzer, Jr.

Ernest M. "Ernie" Switzer, Jr., 72, of Rimersburg, PA, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016, at Clarion Hospital.

He was born August 23, 1944 in Brookville, PA, the son of Ernest M. Switzer, Sr. and Mary K. (Dinger) Switzer.

Ernie was a lifelong resident of Rimersburg and attended Rimersburg First United Methodist Church. He formerly worked at Bracken Construction and then became a conductor for Penn Central Railroad and Conrail. He later worked as a conductor for Norfolk Southern Railroad, retiring on June 24, 2005. Ernie was a member of Clarion Lodge #277 F&AM and the Rimersburg Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed taking bus trips with the Young at Heart group and especially loved hunting and riding his motorcycle.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Georgia (Centorcelli) Switzer, whom he married June 6, 1964; daughters, Penny McClaine and Linda Bowser and husband, David, all of Rimersburg; grandsons, Jeremy McClaine and wife, Emily, and Evan McClaine and wife, Samantha; great-granddaughter, Tessa McClaine; sisters, Judith Cochran and husband, Ron, of Bradenton, FL, Cathy McKinney and husband, Arnold, of Rimersburg, and Lisa Shimmons and husband, George, of Rimersburg; and brother-in-law, Dana Clover, of Jamestown.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vickie Clover; and son-in-law, Jeffrey McClaine.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11 AM on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Rimersburg First United Methodist Church, 399 Main St., Rimersburg, with the Rev. Dennis Fetter officiating.
